For the first 'Optional Project' - The task has been set to find and photograph skate-boarders.
I was fortunate enough to come across these three lads John, Gary and Kevin on the seafront at Southend-on-Sea. The wind was gusting and it threatened to rain but they continued to attempt their tricks despite sometimes being almost blown away! A large wooden boulder was used as the obstacle. They were quite happy for me to take images of them whilst they attempted their tricks.
Even though these were boys of between 14 and 16 they were quite happy to talk to me about their hobby. We talked about the South-bank area by The Thames in London which is expected to close, which of course they hoped wouldn't and how they enjoyed skate boarding on the front.
The weather was really turning quite windy with the sand blowing in our eyes so, there was just a little more time to grab a few more shots before they decided it was time to move on.
This is the first time I have ever done something like this! I felt a little uncomfortable at first but the boys were quite happy to talk to me and I got the impression that they were quite pleased that someone had stopped to talk and take photographs of them...
All photographs taken with Fuji X-E1 and 27mm lens...
